Hi Harley Peeps:D

Heidi took her first run on her XL883L yesterday, taking advantage of probably the last of the good weather.

Noticed that the kickstand fits in really snug under the crankcase. Ok for me with long legs, I can hook it out with my heel. Where'as Heid had a bit of trouble.

I know that stand extensions can be fitted.

Is there anyone out there with one fitted? Does anyone recommend one brand against another? Better still does anyone have a photo of one fitted.

Cheers me dears

phil:)

Hi there - I had one on my 1200 Custom. It was fitted by the dealers for the previous owner. It was chromed lattice work (searching for a picture just now).

Was an absolutely necessity.

I'm going to get one for the 883R I just bought, as I too can't get the stand out easily.

Will post a pic if I find one.

Cheers Hog Hog,

I've seen the lattice work type. they certainly look better than the solid ones.

There are some on ebay at the moment, although solid, for 26.00, they seem to bolt on.

But I'm not exactly sure where they stick out.

Phil

Sent you a PM re photos.

The end of the stand is at a slight angle of say 10 to 15 degrees. It just bolts on to the angled piece to make it longer, that way you can catch it with your toe.

Can you post a link to the ebay item as I am needing one too (won't bid against you - just want a look)

I've had one fitted to the Heritage and so has Shirley G and they are brilliant. Got mine from dealers (lattice type) it cost me about 30 but that was with mega discount (think they are usuall y about 40) Shirley got hers from e-bay but don't know how much she paid

Had one on sportster, and Dyna,.. Sportser was solid one, needed to drill hole for 1/4" bolt, Dyna was lattice and bolted straight on.. Not seen lattice one for sportster??. Solid ones on ebay 23.99

Dont have any photos of sportster or Dyna stands, and dont have those bikes anymore, But I would definitely recommend extensions, makes a heck of a difference..

Got an extension for the Fat Bob as even with size 10 feet I just couldn't find the kickstand. Lattice style from those awfully nice Zanotti people in the states.:)
Think I might have a pic somewhere!
