Big Linz has asked me to post this up. He will be leading this rideout from the FRONT, he has also told me that he will be buying lunch ......
We are riding to Fort William on the 4th of May.
The charity benefits Cot Death. (SANDS (http://www.uk-sands.org/))
Sands is an organisation which can offer you support when your baby dies during pregnancy or after birth.
The death of a baby is a devastating experience. The effects of grief can be overwhelming and parents, their families and friends can be left feeling dazed, disorientated, isolated and exhausted.
It can be hard to take in information, to make decisions or to imagine how you are going to cope.
At Sands there are people who understand what it's like because many of us have been through this experience ourselves, and we are here to help offer support and information when you need it. If you want more info regarding this charity, follow this link to their web site (http://www.uk-sands.org/)
Walkers will be making their way to Fort William where they have asked us to meet them on our bikes.
We would love to make this a big day. Linz is asking for donations from all riders, on the day that we can give to the walkers when they arrive in Fort William.

Nookster
26-04-2008, 11:25 PM
I may try and make the run, but it depends on weather and fuel situation as its a 750 mile round trip for me upto Fort William. I would ride straight to Fort William rather than trying to meet up with groups. I will confirm towards end of the week.. :D

Hi Dez, Big Linz, sorry I won't make this run, I was keeping an eye on it but suspected a call back to work for a rig move. Got the call today so away on Wed.
Dez, that would be beach bars you got fitted with all that rain this morning :D

28-04-2008, 09:11 PM
Hey George, you know I missed all the rain, Left home at 0730, missed it all. Headed home at 3pm and missed it all AGAIN :)
Even went for a wee spin tonight and still missed it all, but it did take some keeping an eye on that big black cloud.

Bike in bits, and expecting to do the Chapter meet if I get it back together, so won't be making it this time. :o
Just found out about it from HOGUK.
Might be a good idea for future events, to PM forum members (and other contacts by e-mail?) as early as possible to get best possible coverage. It's on the Perth website as of last night, but as their weekend away is up the same road next weekend, I wouldn't expect many takers. I'm game for a donation though. Good cause.

Hi Youall,
Hope to make the Fort William run but I am in same situation as Nookster
750 mile round trip,I guess it will depend on the weather.
Having said that I am a glutton for punishment so will probably
turn up anyway.
Its a hell of a good excuse for a real ride.

3pm could be to late I intende4d to hit the road about 11am
are we thinking of cancelling or the walkers I do not want to miss this if at all possible.
Cheers Keith.
RamDez
02-05-2008, 10:20 PM
Sorry EVERYONE.
It’s with regret that we are cancelling this.
With the weather closing in for the weekend, there is no point members riding from all over the country and ending up with the flu.
Linz suggests that we try and reschedule this event for next Sunday? That would be the 11th of May.
Although we wont meet the charity walkers, we could still do the run, meet in Fort William and make a collection there, sending the donation in, along with some “on the day” photos.
Can I ask that you all surf back to www.scottishhd.com when you get the chance and post your thoughts about this idea PLEASE.
Linz is gutted after the fantastic response by the members and would love to rearrange this ride.
Thanks for reading and safe riding.

Hi HOG riders,
Seems the weather is going to put a block on this one for us from Aberdeen - 200 plus miles. Riding in the dry and getting wet later is acceptable, riding when it is already wet and forecast not to improve is no fun. Suggest the run is suspended until we have a better forecast -the charity will not lose out. Spoke with Ram Dez earlier today on this subject.

p.s. if you do the 11th and I cant make it, I would like to send a donation up in the post....
p.p.s. Thankyou for the organising of the event as well.

Some sound judgement being shown by cancelling due to weather. day. I know the feeling Nookster, get all sorted for a worthwhile ride and the weather does its best to spoil. Better to to be safe and play another. The 11th is OK by me or even another date when all who have supported this can make it. The Biker Babe (Lesley) and |I will be unavailable for 3 weekends starting the weekend of the 16th May --- heading off to the french HOG rally in St Tropez for two weeks.
