Stopped at the Sheel station the other day, and thought - what the heck lets try V-Power this time.

Not sure it was a good idea. I think it makes the engine run hotter...??? but then I'm not too clued up on that. Certainly seemed that way, and in traffic I'm sure there was a bit of mis-firing..?

Anyone tried it, or have any "Petrolheads" got some comments to make.

I use Shell V power all the time and have not had any problems. In my old Dyna model that had a carb instead of injection I had to use the Harley winter fuel addative if the weather was cold or it would mis fire at low speed because of carb iceing ?

Thanks for the responses. I'm now using it in the Dyna, The Trials Bikes, The daughters Scooter, and my old 1981 Z250A3. So I'm getting loadsa "Bang" for my loadsa money.

By the way, fuel went up a while back, due to Oil reaching $100 a barrel. Why did it not come back down again when the price of oil fell.

Now that the Oil is back up to $100 dollars a barrel, you can bet that we are due for another price rise, after all we are now so used to paying £1.08 per litre, that we will all sit back and quietly pay the extra.

So what is it gonna be boys and girls. Personally I'm just typing a letter to Shell advising them that I am prepared to pay up to £1.24 per litre until the summer, after which I could maybe give them up to £1.38 per litre. I think it only wise to keep these small companies advised of my loyalty, in order that they may continue to trade comfortably.

 I've just realised that we now pay more per litre than we did per gallon when I started driving  and I'm only young...!!:D

The up and down oil thing is called profiteering.

"eeeh wen I were a lad"...... yes when I got my first moped(NSU Quickly 3 speed) I used to run for a week on half a gallon of petroluem spirit which cost 17.5p. By my maths thats 37p a gallon.

I also vaguely remember getting a petrol ration book (which was never required) for the scoot which allowed me a gallon a week. The politics of the time were of little interest to me but I was aware it was summat to do with "yon kipper" and an oil embargo.

... ee ba gum... you must be an' old un' ...... :p

'twas but £1.67 a gallon when I passed my test. Dad used to let me borrow the car (Morris Marina - hey guys, everyone has to start somewhere) if I put my £2 in the tank....:D

by the way you're wrong - it's not Profiteering - it's PIRATE-eering...!!! :D

Anyway, I've stopped using the Shell garage as another one has opened nearby. It's a no-nonsense kind of place called.....

I always try to use premium, goes back to when i had a carb problem on a virago! Temp fix for the problem, now run it as standard!

Only problem was the day I filled up in a rush and thought "oh there's the premium over there!" It was a different colour!

Bloody diesel! DOH!

New filters and plugs and a drain later it runs great. :D

Those were the days, I seem to remember something about ration books (for fuel):p Luckily I don't look my age:D:D or is that my failing eyesight. Wife tells me I have dropsy (everything heading south:eek:) Must try this new wonder fuel after I've put in the wiring to cure the overheating when they arrive:cool::D:D
