Guys and Gals - Just a short note to tell you what you probably already know : man, you have SUCH a beautiful country to ride in !!.............. Mandy and I fired up the bikes this morning and went for our first ride since arriving here a few weeks ago - it was awesome.
We took the back roads from Perth through Dunning, Auchterarder, Crieff, Comrie and ended up at the Riverside Coffee Shop between Comrie and St. Fillans where Jan served up some wholesome Broccoli Soup with a homebake wholewheat roll for a light lunch - highly recommended if you're looking for a stop over and a leg stretch, but you'd better make it snappy, they close at the end of Oct for the Winter.
We bumped into another H-D rider from Perth too, Stephen, so all in all, a good day.
Cheers for now - ride safe and enjoy.

Hi Mike

Glad you had a good run today. We do indeed have some great scenery - down side is that we have some crappy weather to put up with (you'll find that Jock's do 'Understatement 'r' Us' a lot). Also the local councils put salt on out roads to keep them clear of ice - trouble is it likes attacking Harley chrome & alloy more.

Anywa welcome to Scotland & f you're aiming for Aberdeensometime give us a shout.

Cheers
John:)

Hi John - thanks for the warning about the salt ................ was wondering what all those wee yellow plastic boxes were on the side of the roads !!!
And when (not if !) we get to Aberdeen, count on it, we'll definitely give u a shout and get you to show us the local scenery there.
See you on the road - ride safe and enjoy !

We did Crieff, Comrie, Lochearnhead, Killin, Aberfeldy and back to Perth via Bankfoot last night. Seemed like a nice evening when we left Perth about 5.15, but we lost the sun before Crieff, and it was bloody freezing by the time we got to Glen Ogle. Hands had almost fallen off by the time we stopped at the Perthshire Visitor Centre at Bankfoot (bit pricey, but another good stop). 100 miles in all, and dark by the time we got back.
I'd been out on the old Guzzi on a classic run on Sunday morning, when it was at least as cold. Over to Forfar, Brechin, Edzell, then down the coast road to Arbroath via Lunan Bay and Montrose. I'd just lashed up some of those Oxford heated overgrips to try them out and the difference was unbelievable. They might only heat the palms of your hands up, but that seemed to keep the rest of you warm too. Unfortunately, they won't fit over the Harley Grips (too large diameter on the 1" bars) and I had to get some smaller grips for the 7/8" Guzzi bars before they would fit that.
Getting some heated grips or heated gloves is now a number one priority!
Probably gloves or overgrips, as I just brought back some new Isogrips from the States...

Anybody come across an overgrip that will fit larger diameter grips? I like the idea of heated gloves (use on more than one bike for example), but I don't like the idea you have to throw away the expensive heated bit when the gloves inevitably wear out...
