All, "Sportster" (Andy - - tall guy from the Ayreshire) started riding with us during the middle of last season. He rides a black & smokey gold sportster, attended Thunder last year and this years Skye run among other Dunedin events. He rides regularly with Ourmani (Kenny) and myself.
He was knocked of his bike on Tuesday past, by a car driver who went through a corner in a straight line! Police are charging the car driver with wreckless driving.
Andy was able to reduce his speed quite considerable before the collision, but he's still in hospital. The most serious injury is too his ankle which is badly broken, and he's had surgery with a metal plate etc. being used.
More concerningly for Andy, is his son was riding pillion, and sustained worse injuries. Ewan's leg was broken in three places, and he was in surgery for over 4 hours.
They're both in hospital, with Andy hopefully being released on Tue next week, but Ewan will remain for at least another week or so.
They are both stable and have a fair bit of recovering ahead of them. Andy is very aware of how much worse it could have been. He's also very dissappointed at not being able to attend Thunder this year.
Main purpose of sharing this, is to firstly let folk know that have met him, and secondly to mention he's still accessing his emails from the hospital bed (andy.torrance@hotmail.co.uk). I'm sure any brief emails of support from fellow riders would do his moral no end of good.
Thx, S.Murph
